Shriya Pilgaonkar on new phase with Mirzapur and Haiwaan

Shriya Pilgaonkar has revealed that she is entering an exciting new chapter in her career as she prepares for two major theatrical releases this year: Mirzapur: The Movie and Haiwaan. After dedicating the past few years to building her presence on OTT platforms through shows like Mirzapur, The Broken News, and Guilty Minds, the actress is now eager to return to big-screen projects.

Return to Theatrical Cinema

Reflecting on her journey, Shriya shared, “The past few years, I focused more on OTT projects, and I truly enjoyed that phase. But I’m very excited to now be part of two big theatrical films.” She highlighted the immense anticipation surrounding Mirzapur: The Movie, noting, “Everybody is looking forward to it, and there’s already so much curiosity around what the film will be like.” Additionally, she expressed her thrill to be part of Haiwaan, working alongside director Priyadarshan and co-stars Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar.

Challenges of OTT Association

Shriya also opened up about the difficulties actors face when they become strongly associated with digital content. “The industry can be very quick to stereotype you. When you do a lot of work on OTT, sometimes you get labelled as an ‘OTT actor’, and film opportunities can suffer because of that,” she explained. The actress emphasised that she has always been mindful of this issue and plans to prioritise quality film projects moving forward. “Going forward, I want to prioritise doing good films,” she concluded.
