Simbu Resumes 'Arasan' Shoot in Chennai

Actor Silambarasan, popularly known as Simbu, has resumed shooting for his much-anticipated film Arasan, directed by the acclaimed filmmaker Vetrimaaran of Vada Chennai fame. On Saturday, the actor took to his social media handle to share a picture from the set, signaling the continuation of the project after a brief pause.

Shoot Resumes After Temporary Halt

In the photo shared on Instagram, Silambarasan is seen in a conversation with director Vetrimaaran as the shoot progresses in Chennai. According to a report by IANS, the actor rejoined the shoot from Friday. The filming is currently taking place in Chennai and is expected to continue for an extended schedule. Earlier, production had been stalled due to a disagreement between producer Ishari K Ganesh and Simbu regarding an advance payment for another film that never materialized.

Cast and Crew Updates

The current schedule of Arasan features a host of actors. Comedian Yogi Babu and actress Priyanka Arul Mohan are expected to join the shoot during this phase. Actor Vikranth is also part of the ensemble. Child actor Kamalesh, who appeared in Tourist Family, plays a significant role. The first schedule of the film was completed in Kovilpatti and wrapped up on December 21 last year.

About the Film

Arasan marks the first collaboration between Silambarasan and Vetrimaaran. Vijay Sethupathi is also part of the project. Interestingly, the film is said to be connected to the world of Vada Chennai. The music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander.

Promo Highlights

The film's promo features a striking scene where Simbu speaks to director Nelson. He says, "I'm saying this only because most of the cases about which I am going to tell you are still under trial." He adds, "If you put out a disclaimer, even if the incidents shown in the film are true, no one can question you." The promo then transitions to a court scene where he is questioned about three murders in one night. He claims innocence, but later visuals hint at a different reality.
