The wait for 'Spider-Noir' is almost over. The first trailer for the upcoming live-action Marvel series starring Nicolas Cage has been unveiled, offering a striking and atmospheric glimpse into one of the most distinctive superhero projects in recent memory.
Trailer Reveals Ben Reilly's Story
The trailer, released on the show's official social media handles, introduces Cage as Ben Reilly, an ageing and "down-on-his-luck private investigator" who was once New York City's only superhero. The eight-episode series is set in 1930s New York and leans heavily into a hardboiled detective aesthetic. Based on the Marvel comic 'Spider-Man Noir', the show establishes a grounded and brooding tone throughout.
What the 'Spider-Noir' Trailer Reveals
The trailer was released in two formats: "Authentic Black and White" and "True-Hue Full Colour", underscoring the series' commitment to its noir identity. The trailer focuses heavily on Ben Reilly's character arc, showing he "hasn't been the same since the death of someone named Ruby." It also teases a growing romance between Ben and Cat Hardy (Li Jun Li). Throughout the plot, Reilly must come to terms with his past to save the city from gangsters and supervillains.
The Villains Take Centre Stage
A major highlight of the trailer is the expanded look at the show's villains. Brendan Gleeson appears as Silvermane, a psychopathic mob boss who has controlled organised crime for 30 years. Jack Huston's Sandman is portrayed as the "ultimate anti-hero", with superpowers that could be tearing him apart. Abraham Popoola's Tombstone is a larger-than-life villain, and Andrew Lewis Caldwell's Megawatt brings a more explicit superhero element to the mix.
Action, Horror and Atmosphere
The trailer features action-packed scenes of Spider-Noir hanging from buildings, sticking criminals with webbing, and engaging in street battles. The clip also hints at horror elements, such as Spider-Noir transforming into a man-spider and encountering a hive of spiders. Other cast members include Lamorne Morris and Karen Rodriguez. 'Spider-Noir' will be available worldwide on Prime Video on May 27, 2026.
