Anjuum Faakih Embraces Grey-Shaded Role in Dr Aarambhi After Decade-Long Wait

Actress Anjuum Faakih, currently starring in the popular series Dr Aarambhi, has expressed that returning to a grey-shaded character after many years has been a creatively fulfilling experience. She believes such roles offer a unique emotional complexity that mirrors the intricacies of contemporary relationships.

'Grey Characters Are Not Simply Right or Wrong'

"I played a grey shade in a show almost a decade ago, and since then I’ve been yearning to play something like that again," Faakih reveals. "This opportunity felt exciting because grey characters are not simply right or wrong." According to the actress, it is this inherent complexity that makes these roles so compelling and engaging for both performers and audiences.

She elaborates on the nuanced nature of such characters: "When you are right, you know you are right. When you are wrong, you know you are wrong. But when you are grey, you are stuck somewhere in the middle. Sometimes you believe you are right, but others may see you differently." This ambiguity, she argues, adds depth and realism to storytelling, reflecting the multifaceted nature of human interactions.

Defining Dr. Avantika: Strength and Independence

Discussing her character, Dr. Avantika, Faakih notes that the label of "grey" is often misinterpreted in society. "When women stand up for themselves or ask for what they deserve, people sometimes label them as grey or problematic," she observes. "But Avantika knows her worth. She stands up for herself and demands her rights. There is nothing wrong in that."

She describes Dr. Avantika as a strong, independent woman who serves as a cosmetic surgeon and head of her department. "She is confident, fiery, and believes in equal opportunities for everyone," Faakih says, highlighting the character's empowering traits.

Personal Connection to the Role

Faakih draws a parallel between her own life journey and that of her character, which enhances her connection to the role. "I have always been a rebel. Everything I have today, I earned the hard way. I had no support or industry background," she shares. This personal history of resilience and self-reliance allows her to deeply relate to Avantika's fearless and independent spirit.

"Avantika is independent and fearless. Playing such a woman is exciting and empowering," Faakih concludes, emphasizing how portraying complex, grey-shaded characters not only challenges her as an actress but also resonates with broader themes of empowerment and authenticity in modern narratives.
