In a heartwarming revelation, television actor Arjun Verma, who currently portrays the lead character Dev in the popular TV show Paro Sang Dev, has shared his remarkable journey from being an engineering student to becoming a successful actor.
Discovering the Acting Passion
Arjun recalls being a dedicated student throughout his school years, unsure about his career path until reaching Class 10. "I was always a studious kid and never really knew what I wanted to do till Class 10," the actor confessed. However, a significant transformation occurred during his Class 12 studies when he discovered his love for performing arts.
"But somewhere in Class 12, I realized how much I enjoyed performing — dance, acting, everything. That's when I told my parents I wanted to become an actor," Arjun revealed. His parents, while supportive, advised him to complete his education first, setting him on an unexpected academic path.
The Engineering Detour
Following his parents' advice, Arjun achieved what many Indian students dream of — he cracked the JEE Mains examination and pursued a BTech in Electronics and Communication from NIT Jalandhar. After completing his engineering degree, he worked in the corporate sector for nearly a year before making the bold decision to quit his job and chase his acting dreams full-time.
His professional acting journey began with the Punjabi television serial Dildariyan, where he played the parallel lead role. "I still remember my first shoot day — 30 May 2023. I'll never forget it," the actor shared emotionally, marking the beginning of his screen career.
Mumbai Calling and Big Break
After gaining experience in the Punjabi entertainment industry and appearing in several music videos for major labels, Arjun planned his move to Mumbai. His persistence paid off when he auditioned for Paro Sang Dev and successfully landed the lead role, marking his Hindi television debut.
Adjusting to Mumbai's fast-paced lifestyle presented initial challenges for the Punjab-raised actor. "Mumbai is much faster than Punjab. There's a constant rush here, while Punjab feels easy — maybe because it's home. But Mumbai has treated me well," he acknowledged gratefully.
Drawing from his Punjabi industry experience, Arjun noted that while the language changes between industries, the core acting craft remains consistent. "Only the language changes, emotions don't. Hindi comes naturally to me," he shared, highlighting his adaptability as an actor.
Currently single and living independently in Mumbai, Arjun credits his parents for raising him to be self-sufficient. "My parents raised me to be independent, so I'm used to handling everything myself," he stated proudly.
The actor feels a special connection with his character Dev in Paro Sang Dev, particularly because of their shared family values. "Dev is very attached to his parents, and so am I. That's why the character feels close to my heart," Arjun explained, revealing the personal touch he brings to his performance.
Overwhelmed by the positive response to his work, Arjun concluded, "The love and appreciation I'm receiving is overwhelming," indicating that his journey from engineering to acting has been worth every challenge.
