Akanksha Chamola Embarks on Digital Journey with OTT Debut After Eight-Year Hiatus
Following a significant eight-year break from acting, Akanksha Chamola made a notable return to the screen with the television series Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye. Now, she is poised to enter the rapidly expanding digital entertainment space with her upcoming OTT debut in the series Dil Dhokha Aur Desire. In this new project, Chamola will portray the character of Malini, marking a pivotal chapter in her professional resurgence.
Embracing a Complex Character in the Digital Arena
Reflecting on this transition, Akanksha Chamola expressed that stepping into the OTT domain feels like a substantial leap forward in her career. She described her character as intricate and multi-layered, representing a stark departure from her previous roles. "This character is complex, layered, and completely different from what I played earlier. I feel fortunate to be getting such varied opportunities within a year of returning," she shared, highlighting the diverse creative avenues opening up for her post-comeback.
Drawing Parallels: Real-Life Age-Gap Marriage Informs Perspective
Chamola also drew insightful parallels between her on-screen journey and her personal life, particularly her marriage to actor Gaurav Khanna, who is nine years her senior. She candidly discussed how this age difference often manifests in their daily interactions and viewpoints. "There's a clear difference in outlook and vibe. I may laugh off certain situations, while my partner responds differently. Preferences also vary. With age, you become calmer and more composed, while youth brings more instinctive reactions," she explained, offering a glimpse into the dynamics of their relationship.
Addressing the Debate on Intimacy and Exposure in OTT Content
The conversation shifted to the ongoing discourse surrounding intimacy and bold content in OTT productions. Akanksha Chamola presented a balanced viewpoint, emphasizing that the responsibility does not rest solely with the platforms. "Such content is being made because people are consuming it. If people start rejecting it, it will stop being made. Just blaming OTT platforms for showing extreme intimacy and bold content is one-sided and biased. It works because the audience is consuming it. If you reject it, artistes and producers are not desperate to make it. One is simply catering to the audience's requirements," she articulated, underscoring the role of audience demand in shaping content.
Personal Boundaries and Supportive Partnership
When questioned about her own comfort level with intimate scenes on screen, Chamola affirmed that she maintains personal constraints and limits. "I have my own constraints, and there is a limit to what I can do. Even with this project, I would say we have maintained a very respectable line," she stated, clarifying her approach to such portrayals.
She further credited her supportive partnership with Gaurav Khanna for facilitating smoother navigation of career decisions. "Being with someone who understands the industry helps. We discuss work, stay aligned, and support each other when a decision feels right," she added, highlighting the importance of mutual understanding in their professional and personal lives.
As Akanksha Chamola prepares for her OTT debut, her insights into character complexity, real-life experiences, and the digital content landscape offer a comprehensive look at her evolving career and thoughtful perspectives on the entertainment industry.
