In a shocking incident that captured global attention, Nick Naydev, then 27 years old, performed a dangerous stunt by jumping from the 11th deck of a Royal Caribbean cruise ship while it was docked in Nassau, Bahamas, back in 2019. The vessel involved was the Symphony of the Seas, renowned as one of the largest cruise liners in the world, making the act even more audacious.
The Reckless Leap and Immediate Aftermath
Naydev leaped approximately 100 feet into the sea after a night of heavy drinking, filming the entire stunt as his friends watched from above. The footage quickly went viral online, sparking widespread outrage from the cruise operator and prompting stern warnings from safety experts. Royal Caribbean swiftly condemned the jump, labeling it as "stupid and reckless behaviour" and later confirming that Naydev and his companions were permanently banned from sailing with the company.
At the time, medical professionals emphasized the extreme dangers involved, noting that falls from heights of seven storeys or more carry a very high risk of death. They explained that water can behave more like a solid surface at such speeds due to the immense force of impact, making survival unlikely.

"Six or seven hours after, I was in quite a bit of pain, and it took about three days for that pain to go away," he recounted. Reflecting on the experience, Naydev admitted, "I realize how dangerous this is. The height is pretty high, and at that height, the water is almost like cement. I would never do this again."
In a separate discussion with Inside Edition, Naydev detailed the moment of impact. "I remember hitting the water; the impact was pretty big 'cause it was pretty high up. It impacted my tailbone and my neck pretty hard, luckily it wasn't anything serious," he said. He also confessed that alcohol played a significant role in his decision-making, stating, "The previous night we were drinking quite a bit, so I was still feeling the effects of the alcohol."
Hidden Dangers and Legal Repercussions
Beyond the physical toll, Naydev later learned that the waters he jumped into were considered unsafe for swimming due to the presence of marine life. In Instagram comments posted after the incident, he wrote, "What they told me shocked me. They told me that nobody dares swim in that water where I jumped because it was infested with sharks. So I was pretty lucky to be alive."
Royal Caribbean confirmed at the time that they were considering legal action and issued a strong statement condemning the stunt. A spokesperson reiterated, "This was stupid and reckless behaviour, and he and his companions have been banned from ever sailing with us again."

Naydev has since expressed hope that others do not attempt to copy his actions. "I hope I don't inspire anybody to do this because it is very dangerous," he warned. "They'll think this is a joke."
