Prabhas' 'The Raja Saab' Digital Premiere Includes Previously Cut Scene
The highly anticipated Prabhas starrer 'The Raja Saab' premiered in theaters on January 9 amid significant fanfare and high expectations. However, the film's theatrical run was met with mixed to negative reviews from critics and audiences alike. A notable point of disappointment for fans was the absence of Prabhas' older look, which had been prominently featured in promotional trailers and posters.
OTT Version to Feature Prabhas' Older Look
According to a report by Onmanorama, as the film makes its digital debut on the streaming platform Jio Hotstar, the makers have confirmed that a four-minute cut version will be included in the online release. This segment, which was not shown during the initial theatrical screenings, specifically features Prabhas' older look that had generated considerable buzz prior to the film's release.
Filmmaker T G Vishwa Prasad, who backed the movie, explained that the scene was removed from the theatrical version due to server issues. These technical problems prevented the team from making last-minute corrections before the film's wide release in cinemas.
About 'The Raja Saab'
Directed by Maruthi, 'The Raja Saab' is a horror comedy that follows the story of Prabhas as Raju, a grandson on a quest to find his long-lost grandfather. His search leads him to a massive mansion, which he soon discovers is actually a haunted house. This setting sets the stage for a series of intense and comical moments throughout the film.
Cast of 'The Raja Saab'
The film boasts an ensemble cast featuring Prabhas in the lead role, alongside three female leads: Malavika Mohanan, Riddhi Kumar, and Nidhhi Agerwal. Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt plays the main villain, with supporting roles from Boman Irani, Zarina Wahab, and Brahmanandam.
Box Office and Availability
Despite the mixed reception, 'The Raja Saab' has performed well commercially, grossing over Rs 208.39 crore worldwide according to Sacnilk. The film is currently available both in theaters and on the Jio Hotstar streaming platform, offering audiences multiple viewing options.
The inclusion of the previously cut scene in the OTT version aims to provide a more complete viewing experience for fans who were disappointed by its absence in theaters. This move highlights the evolving nature of film distribution, where digital platforms can offer enhanced or alternate versions of cinematic releases.
