Scrubs Revival Set to Premiere on February 25 After 16-Year Wait
After a long hiatus of 16 years, the iconic comedy series Scrubs is making a highly anticipated comeback, with its premiere scheduled for February 25, 2026. The show, which originally aired from 2001 to 2010, follows the humorous and heartfelt journeys of Dr. John "J.D." Dorian, portrayed by Zach Braff, and his colleagues at Sacred Heart Hospital as they evolve from medical interns to seasoned doctors.
Original Cast Members Confirmed for Return
Fans of the series will be delighted to learn that several beloved original cast members are set to reprise their roles in the revival. The core trio of Zach Braff as J.D., Sarah Chalke as Elliot, and Donald Faison as Turk will return as series regulars, ensuring the continuation of their dynamic friendships and professional challenges.
Additionally, two other key original cast members, Judy Reyes as Carla and John C. McGinley as Dr. Cox, will appear in the nine-episode season. According to an interview with Deadline, Reyes is featured in four episodes, while McGinley appears in three episodes of Season 10.
Guest Appearances and Notable Absences
The revival will also include guest appearances from Scrubs alumni Neil Flynn and Christa Miller, who will return as the Janitor and Jordan, respectively. Jordan will be seen alongside her longtime partner, Perry Cox, adding to the nostalgic elements of the series.
However, not all original cast members will be part of the initial revival. Ken Jenkins, who played Bob Kelso throughout all nine original seasons, is absent from Season 1. Jenkins, now 85 and retired from acting, is not included this year, but Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence has indicated that if the series is renewed for a second season, Dr. Kelso will return. Lawrence stated, "Dr. Kelso will be back next year. It just didn't work out this year, but it will next year."
Storyline and Timeline of the Revival
Showrunner Bill Lawrence has clarified that the revival will pick up as if the original series concluded with the Season 8 finale, effectively ignoring the events of the spinoff-style Season 9. This decision aims to reconnect with the core narrative that fans cherished.
When Scrubs originally ended in 2010, J.D. and Elliot were newly married and expecting their first child, a daughter, while Carla and Turk were raising two daughters. The revival jumps forward 16 years, reflecting the passage of time in the characters' lives. Now, Carla and Turk have expanded their family to four children, and J.D. and Elliot share two children, showcasing how their personal lives have evolved during the show's absence.
Premiere Details and Expectations
The first two episodes of Scrubs Season 10 are set to debut on ABC on February 25, 2026. This revival promises to blend the classic humor and emotional depth that made the series a fan favorite, while introducing new storylines that reflect the characters' growth over the years.
With a mix of returning favorites and fresh narratives, the Scrubs revival is poised to captivate both longtime fans and new audiences, marking a significant moment in television comedy history.
