A 15-day yoga camp aimed at promoting preventive healthcare and healthy living practices began in Ranchi on Saturday as part of the International Yoga Day, which will be observed on June 21.
Inauguration and Theme
National Health Mission (NHM) Jharkhand chapter director Shashi Prakash Jha inaugurated the camp, which was conducted by Archana Kumari under the theme, ‘Yoga Karein, Nirog Rahein’. The event was attended by over 100 participants.
Addressing Lifestyle Diseases
Jha highlighted that lifestyle-related ailments and stress are emerging concerns requiring greater emphasis on preventive health practices. He stated, “Yoga is an important tool for maintaining physical and mental well-being. The objective is to take the message of healthy living to remote areas and panchayats and encourage people to make yoga a part of their daily routine.”
Raising Awareness
The initiative seeks to raise awareness about the benefits of regular physical activity and holistic wellness, particularly as non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and obesity become more common. Health officials said the program aims to increase community participation in wellness activities and build awareness about preventive healthcare in both urban and rural areas of Jharkhand.
Expansion to Health Facilities
Similar yoga sessions will be organized at district hospitals, community health centres (CHCs), primary health centres (PHCs), and Ayushman Arogya Mandirs across the state.
