Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation Intensifies Food Safety Checks with Paneer Sampling Drive
In a significant move to ensure food quality and public health standards, the Health Department of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) conducted a targeted inspection on Tuesday. Officials collected paneer samples from a total of nine hotels and restaurants spread across various zones of the city.
Comprehensive Laboratory Analysis Ordered
The primary objective of this sampling drive is to conduct a thorough scientific analysis of the paneer. The collected samples have been dispatched to the AMC's own laboratory, which holds prestigious NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories) accreditation. This ensures the test results will be reliable and meet national standards.
The laboratory will specifically test for several critical parameters:
- Moisture content levels
- Total fat percentage
- Presence of non-milk fat
- Detection of vegetable fat adulteration
- Identification of starch, an unauthorized additive
These tests are designed to verify the purity, composition, and overall quality of the paneer being served to consumers, safeguarding against adulteration and substandard products.
List of Establishments Where Samples Were Collected
The health department teams visited a diverse range of eateries. The establishments from which paneer samples were taken include:
- P Bhagat Tarachand Restaurant located in Maninagar
- Shri Khodiyar Kathiyawadi Dhaba
- KK Frankie in the Jodhpur area
- Excel Food Ventures, also in Jodhpur
- Navjeevan Restaurant situated in Thakkarnagar
- Devyani International Limited in Vastral
- The Mist Banquets Restaurants
- Jalaram Restaurant in Jamalpur
- Nine Eleven Multi-Cuisine Restaurant (commonly known as Gopi Restaurant) in Shahibaug
This wide geographical spread indicates a city-wide focus on food safety compliance, covering areas from Maninagar and Jamalpur to Jodhpur, Vastral, Thakkarnagar, and Shahibaug.
The initiative underscores the AMC's ongoing commitment to proactive food surveillance. The results from the NABL-accredited lab are awaited and will determine if any regulatory action is required against establishments found violating food safety norms.
