Tragic Bus Accident Claims Lives of Two Women Pilgrims in Ghazipur
A devastating bus accident on the Gorakhpur–Varanasi highway has resulted in the deaths of two women and left 35 other pilgrims injured. The incident occurred near Naisara village, under the jurisdiction of the Nandganj police station in Ghazipur district, on Thursday morning.

The bus was carrying a group of 48 pilgrims from Maharashtra who were on a religious tour of Uttar Pradesh. After visiting Ayodhya and Nepal, they were returning to Varanasi to offer prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. Around 11:30 am, the vehicle overturned while passing through Naisara village, causing chaos and immediate distress.
Local authorities, including Ghazipur District Magistrate Avinash Kumar and SP Iraj Raja, confirmed the identities of the deceased as Annapurna, 50, from Akola, and Saraswati, 70, from Buldhana. The injured pilgrims were swiftly rescued with the assistance of locals and emergency responders.
Emergency Response and Medical Care
Nandganj police, supported by senior officials such as the ASP, arrived at the scene promptly to manage the situation. Of the 35 injured individuals, 32 were admitted to a medical college hospital for treatment. Three pilgrims in critical condition are under close observation by a specialized team of doctors, highlighting the severity of the injuries sustained.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation, with authorities yet to determine why the driver lost control of the bus. Preliminary reports suggest that factors such as road conditions or driver fatigue might be considered, but no official statement has been released.
