Cardiology Department at ANMMCH Gaya to Start Soon, Relief for Heart Patients
Cardiology Dept at ANMMCH Gaya to Start Soon

The cardiology department being developed at Anugrah Narain Magadh Medical College and Hospital (ANMMCH) in Gaya is likely to become operational soon, providing major relief to critically ill heart patients in the Magadh region. Although plans to establish superspecialty departments at the hospital were announced several years ago, progress accelerated after Dr. K K Sinha took charge as hospital superintendent in late 2024.

Importance of Cardiology Services

Cardiology is considered one of the most crucial superspecialty services, as shifting critical heart patients to Patna or other cities poses serious risks. ANMMCH caters to patients from five districts of Magadh division and adjoining areas of Jharkhand, including parts of Chatra and Koderma.

Current Status and Future Plans

Giving details about the status of the superspecialty departments, Dr. Sinha said that only OPD services are currently available in cardiology. Efforts are being made to start indoor and OT services for cardiology patients, he added.

Explaining the delay, he noted that equipment required for establishing the Cath lab, essential for full-fledged cardiology services, had to be imported. The equipment has arrived in the country and the infrastructure is almost ready. Services will begin once the Cath lab becomes functional, Dr. Sinha said.

Other Superspecialty Departments

Dr. Sinha confirmed that urology and neurosurgery departments are fully functional with OPD, indoor, and operation theatre services. However, no doctors have yet been appointed in neurology, CTVS, and neonatology departments, due to which those services remain non-functional.

Burn Ward and Psychiatric Ward

The hospital’s 12-bed burn ward is operational, while efforts are underway to make the psychiatric ward functional.
