A tragic incident occurred in Sejni village of Sitarganj, Udham Singh Nagar, on Monday evening when a 45-year-old farmer lost his life after being caught in a fire while attempting to extinguish flames in dry wheat stubble in his field.
Details of the Incident
The deceased, identified as Gurbaz Singh, son of Jeet Singh, suffered severe burn injuries after he became trapped in the fire. He was immediately rushed to a sub-district hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Investigation Underway
Circle Officer Bahadur Singh Chauhan stated, "The exact cause of the fire is yet to be known. A preliminary inquiry is currently underway to determine the circumstances leading to the incident."
Family Background
Gurbaz Singh is survived by his wife and two sons, both of whom are working abroad—one in Malaysia and the other in the United Arab Emirates. Family members are expected to return home soon following the tragic news.
Administration's Appeal
The local administration has urged farmers to exercise caution during the summer months. "Fires in dry crop residue can turn fatal within minutes. Farmers must take all necessary precautions to prevent such incidents," Chauhan emphasized.
