A fire incident at the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur caused panic on Thursday evening. The blaze originated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Tuberculosis and Chest Department. Fortunately, no loss of life was reported, and only a wall fan was damaged. Three patients undergoing treatment in the affected room were promptly shifted to alternative rooms for their safety.

The fire was attributed to a short circuit, which led to sparks and smoke. Before the arrival of fire services personnel, security staff of the ward managed to extinguish the fire completely using a fire extinguisher. The superintendent of the medical college and hospital, Sudeepta Das, stated that it was not a major fire. Registrar Sweta Das confirmed that the room is now completely safe.
