In a heartbreaking incident that unfolded on Sunday evening, two brothers tragically drowned while swimming in the Tungabhadra River at Haluvagalu village, located in the Harapanahalli taluk of Vijayanagara district, Karnataka. Father's Desperate Rescue Attempt Saves One Son
The victims have been identified as MG Manu, aged 19, and MG Prajwal, aged 18. They were the sons of farmer Manjappa, a resident of Haluvagalu village. According to official reports from the Haluvagalu police, Manjappa had accompanied his three sons to the riverbank. When the boys entered the water for a swim, they suddenly lost their balance and were swiftly swept away by the strong river current.
In a desperate and courageous attempt, Manjappa managed to rescue his youngest son, Chiranjeevi, from the treacherous waters. However, despite his frantic efforts, he could not reach Manu and Prajwal in time, and they drowned before his eyes. The scene was described as profoundly tragic, with the father witnessing the loss of his two elder sons.
