Uttar Pradesh Government Issues Health Directives for Festive Fairs
In anticipation of large crowds during the upcoming Ram Navami and Chaitra Navratri fairs, the Uttar Pradesh government has issued comprehensive directives to health officials across the state. The instructions, delivered on Friday, emphasize the need for uninterrupted and high-quality medical services, with strict monitoring of hospital operations to ensure public safety during the festive period.
Video Conference with Health Officials
Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Amit Kumar Ghosh conveyed the directives during a video conference with chief medical officers, chief medical superintendents, and other key health officials. Ghosh stressed that emergency preparedness and patient care must not be compromised under any circumstances, highlighting the critical nature of the upcoming events.
Daily Hospital Inspections and Emergency Services
Hospital heads have been instructed to conduct daily inspections of outpatient departments (OPDs), inpatient departments (IPDs), emergency units, and wards at 8:30 AM. These inspections are aimed at assessing preparedness and implementing corrective measures promptly. "Round-the-clock emergency services must remain fully functional in all hospitals," Ghosh stated, underscoring the importance of continuous medical availability.
Ambulance services under the 102 and 108 schemes must be operational and well-equipped to handle any situation. Officials were directed to avoid unnecessary referrals and ensure that patients receive primary treatment before being shifted, if required, using government ambulances.
Staff Management and Patient Convenience
To maintain adequate staffing levels, medical staff should not be granted leave except in unavoidable circumstances and must adhere strictly to attendance norms. Emphasizing patient convenience, Ghosh mandated that essential medicines must be available in adequate quantities within hospitals, preventing patients from being forced to purchase them from outside sources.
Infrastructure and Cleanliness Standards
Hospitals are required to maintain cleanliness as per Kayakalp norms, ensure uninterrupted power and drinking water supply, and keep emergency trays and life-saving drugs ready at all times. Special medical teams deployed in fair districts and temporary health units will be closely monitored to ensure compliance with these standards.
Additional Measures for Guidance and Safety
Instructions were also issued to install glow signboards within hospital premises and nearby areas to improve guidance for patients, especially during nighttime or crowded conditions. Officials were further directed to ensure the implementation of key health schemes and maintain fire safety norms across all medical facilities.
These proactive measures by the Uttar Pradesh government aim to safeguard public health during the festive season, ensuring that medical services are robust, accessible, and efficient for all attendees of the Ram Navami and Chaitra Navratri fairs.
