A visually impaired student in Sirsi, Karnataka, was wrongfully marked absent for the Social Science (SST) subject in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination. The student, who had appeared for the exam, was shocked to see the absence mark on his answer sheet. The error came to light when the student's parents approached the school authorities for clarification. Upon investigation, it was found that the invigilator had mistakenly noted the student as absent. The Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) was informed, and the mark was rectified. The incident highlights the need for better monitoring and support for students with disabilities during examinations. The school has assured that such mistakes will not happen in the future. The student is now relieved and preparing for the remaining exams.
