A 64-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide at a residential society in Kavi Nagar, Ghaziabad, on Monday, according to police. Authorities suspect depression may have been a contributing factor.
Incident Details
The deceased was identified as Satyawati Singh, a resident of Ashiyana Residency. Her body was discovered around 10:30 am in the stairwell area near her flat on the 12th floor. A resident spotted her and alerted others, prompting police to be informed.
A police team arrived at the scene and conducted a preliminary inquiry. The body was later sent for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Family Background
ACP (Kavi Nagar) Suryabali Maurya stated, “The woman lived in the flat with her son, Neeraj, a businessman, who had stepped out for work at the time of the incident.” Police revealed that the family had moved to the society about a year ago after Satyawati’s husband died by suicide. Officers added that she had been undergoing treatment for depression.
Investigation Status
No written complaint has been received in the case so far, police said, adding that autopsy reports are awaited. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
