Dhubri: The body of a woman was discovered floating in the Burachera river on Friday evening at Kashiyabari village under the Gossaigaon Police Station in Kokrajhar district. The deceased has been identified as Maiku Kisku, the wife of Mangal Soren, a resident of Kashiyabari.
Recovery and Autopsy
Police from the Sapkata outpost, in the presence of a magistrate, retrieved the body from the river and sent it to Kokrajhar for a post-mortem examination. According to police sources, the woman was approximately 50 years old.
Suspected Cause of Death
Authorities suspect that Maiku had gone to the river to wash clothes, as a bundle of clothing was found on the riverbank. It is believed she may have accidentally slipped and drowned. However, the exact cause of her death will only be confirmed after the autopsy report is received.
The body was handed over to the family members on Saturday following the autopsy. Police continue to investigate the incident.
