LUCKNOW: The Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) is poised to enhance its healthcare infrastructure with the addition of a 350-bed level-1 trauma centre near its Shahid Path campus. This will be the second such facility in Uttar Pradesh, following the one at King George's Medical University (KGMU), as announced by institute director Prof CM Singh during the 3rd convocation ceremony on Sunday.
Land Allotted for Trauma Centre
Prof Singh revealed that the state government has allocated approximately 16,000 square metres of land for the trauma centre project, with construction expected to commence shortly. The facility aims to provide critical care for trauma patients, reducing the burden on existing hospitals.
Super-Speciality Hospital Expansion
In addition to the trauma centre, a 1,010-bed super-speciality hospital will be developed at RMLIMS to expand advanced healthcare services. This initiative is part of the institute's broader plan to offer comprehensive medical care.
The institute director also announced that liver transplant and bone marrow transplant services are expected to become operational this year, as the necessary infrastructure has been completed. Furthermore, nearly 400 robotic surgeries have already been performed at RMLIMS within the past year, showcasing the adoption of cutting-edge technology.
Gamma Knife Facility
Uttar Pradesh's first Gamma Knife facility will soon be installed at RMLIMS, providing advanced neurosurgical treatment for conditions such as brain tumours and vascular malformations without invasive surgery.
Patient Care Statistics
Highlighting patient care achievements, Prof Singh noted that the institute treated over nine lakh outpatients and admitted more than 78,000 patients in the past year. To reduce waiting times, same-day MRI, CT scan, and other diagnostic services are now being offered.
