Serious Medical Negligence at Government Hospital

A shocking case of medical negligence has come to light at Tuni Government Area Hospital in Kakinada district, where doctors accidentally left a surgical blade inside a patient's leg during an operation. The error was only discovered when the patient complained of severe pain following the initial surgery.

Patient's Ordeal and Discovery

The victim, Koppireddy Chinna, a resident of Ramakrishna Nagar under S Annavaram panchayat in Tuni mandal, had been admitted to the hospital two days earlier. He underwent surgery to remove a bolt from steel plates that had been previously fixed in his leg to treat a fracture.

After the procedure, Chinna was shifted to the general ward, but he continued to experience persistent and severe pain. Concerned about his condition, hospital staff followed doctors' advice and conducted an X-ray examination. The X-ray revealed the shocking truth - a surgical blade had been left inside his leg during the operation.

Hospital Response and Accountability

Hospital superintendent S Annapurna acknowledged the grave error when speaking to media representatives. She revealed that the operating doctor had failed to detect the missing blade during the surgery, despite using a C-Arm machine that provides real-time imaging during surgical procedures.

"Once the issue was identified, we immediately performed a second surgery and removed the blade," Annapurna stated. She confirmed that the patient is now stable and recovering in the surgical ward following the corrective operation.

The incident has sparked significant outrage among local residents and has raised serious questions about surgical protocols and patient safety standards in government healthcare facilities. Many are demanding stricter accountability measures and improved safety protocols to prevent such dangerous oversights in the future.
