UP Govt to Hire 1,200 Medical Faculty in 2026, Boosts Healthcare Jobs
UP to Recruit 1,200 Professors, Lecturers in Medical Colleges

In a significant push to enhance its healthcare education infrastructure, the Uttar Pradesh government has unveiled plans for a massive recruitment drive in its state-run medical colleges. Scheduled for 2026, this initiative will fill approximately 1,200 teaching and technical positions, providing a major boost to employment opportunities for qualified professionals in the region.

Details of the Upcoming Recruitment Drive

The recruitment process will be conducted for three key academic positions across government medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh. According to the plan, a total of 1,167 posts will be filled. This includes 1,112 vacancies for assistant professors, 44 for professors, and 11 for lecturers in pharmacy.

Additional Chief Secretary for Health and Medical Education, Amit Kumar Ghosh, stated that the requisitions for these recruitments have already been sent to the Public Service Commission in Prayagraj for the selection process. He confirmed that advertisements inviting applications for these coveted government jobs will be issued in the near future.

Strengthening Medical Education and Nursing Cadre

This recruitment drive is a direct result of instructions from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The CM has directed officials to fill all vacant posts in the department to maximize employment opportunities for the state's youth. Furthermore, he emphasized that medical education in Uttar Pradesh should transcend merely awarding degrees and must be intrinsically linked with quality, research, and practical training.

In line with this vision, the state has also taken a major step to fortify its nursing services. Separately, the Yogi government is set to distribute appointment letters to 1,230 nursing officers (both female and male) who were selected through the Prayagraj Public Service Commission. This move underscores a holistic approach to building a robust healthcare workforce.

A Decade of Transformation in UP's Medical Landscape

The upcoming recruitment is part of a broader, transformative agenda for medical education in Uttar Pradesh. Over the past nine years, the state has witnessed a historic expansion in the number of medical colleges. This large-scale faculty recruitment in 2026 is poised to further strengthen the academic and research capabilities of these institutions, ensuring they are staffed with qualified educators to train the next generation of doctors and medical professionals.

The dual announcement of hiring 1,200 medical faculty and the imminent appointment of over 1,200 nursing officers signals a powerful commitment from the state government. It aims not only to generate substantial employment but also to elevate the overall standard and capacity of Uttar Pradesh's public healthcare and medical education system.
