Utthan Institute Holds Camp for Families of Special Children

The Utthan Institute of Development and Studies recently organized a three-day intensive motivation camp for families and guardians of children with special needs at the central auditorium of its Utthan Koshish unit in Yamunanagar. The camp aimed to equip participants with practical knowledge, emotional support, and motivational guidance to help them address the challenges of raising and nurturing children with disabilities.

Inaugural Session Highlights

During the inaugural session, retired college principal Dr. P.K. Bajpai emphasized that every child possesses unique abilities and potential. He stressed that the active involvement of parents and guardians is essential for the successful education, rehabilitation, and social inclusion of children with disabilities. Dr. Bajpai urged families to adopt a positive outlook and become advocates for the rights and development of their children.

Key Topics Covered

Throughout the camp, participants received guidance on early intervention services, inclusive and special education opportunities, behavior management techniques, emotional support systems, rehabilitation services, and government welfare schemes. Discussions also covered disability rights, legal safeguards, and strategies to promote independence and self-confidence among special children.

Empowering Families

Dr. Anju Bajpai, Director of the institute, stressed the importance of empowering families through continuous learning and capacity building. She noted that informed and motivated parents are better equipped to support the educational, social, and emotional growth of their children. She also highlighted the need for greater community awareness and acceptance of persons with disabilities.

Interactive Sessions

The sessions conducted by Anukriti Bajpai of Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies (VIPS), Delhi, were highly interactive and practical. Through case studies, group discussions, and real-life examples, she guided participants on communication techniques, behavior management strategies, educational planning, and emotional resilience. She encouraged parents to focus on their children’s strengths rather than limitations and to create supportive environments that foster confidence and independence.

Participant Experiences

A special feature of the camp was the active participation of parents and guardians, who shared their experiences, challenges, and success stories. Participants appreciated the program for addressing both the practical and emotional aspects of caregiving. The camp concluded with a renewed sense of motivation and a stronger support network among families.
