Ahmedabad: For several days, the housing society designated for the economically weaker section (EWS) in the Odhav area of Ahmedabad has been facing severe water supply issues due to low borewell pressure and inadequate water availability. On Friday morning, approximately 70 to 80 residents staged a protest at the main office of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to demand immediate action on the water crisis.
Mayor Intervenes
Mayor Hitesh Barot met with the agitated residents at the corporation office and assured them that the water supply problem would be resolved within the next 15 days. He emphasized the municipal corporation's commitment to addressing the grievances of the EWS community.
AMC's Action Plan
An official from the AMC stated, "Work has commenced on laying a new water line to resolve the drinking water issue. Until the new water line is laid, arrangements have been made to supply drinking water through tankers." The official further added that the tanker supply would continue until the permanent solution is implemented.
- New water line installation underway to ensure long-term water supply.
- Tanker water supply arranged as an interim measure.
- Mayor assured resolution within 15 days.
The residents expressed relief after the mayor's assurance but urged the authorities to expedite the work to prevent further hardship, especially during the summer months.
