Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Announces Crackdown on Food Adulteration

In a firm declaration on Friday, Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav stated that the state government is resolutely committed to taking stringent action against eateries found serving adulterated food or utilizing harmful synthetic colors. The minister made these remarks while responding to concerns raised during a session of the state legislative assembly.

Zero Tolerance for Compromised Food Safety

Minister Yadav issued a clear warning to restaurants, roadside stalls, and all food outlets, emphasizing that any establishment found compromising on food safety standards will face severe consequences. He stressed that protecting public health remains the government's foremost priority, and there will be no leniency towards practices that endanger citizens.

The growing concern over the use of synthetic colors and artificial additives in food, particularly within street food and certain commercial eateries, was highlighted by the minister. He cautioned that regular consumption of such substances poses serious health risks, including potential long-term complications.

Intensified Inspections and Public Awareness Campaign

Yadav announced that food safety inspections will be significantly intensified across Andhra Pradesh. Officials from the state's food safety department are directed to conduct regular and surprise checks at restaurants, hotels, and food stalls to identify violations and take immediate, necessary action.

Furthermore, the minister appealed to legislators to actively participate in spreading public awareness. He urged members to educate people in their constituencies about the dangers of consuming artificially colored or adulterated food and to promote the selection of safe and hygienic dietary options.

"Public awareness is equally crucial in this fight," Yadav stated. "Citizens should exercise caution and avoid food items that appear unusually bright or have an artificial coloration, as these are often indicators of harmful additives."

Strengthening Monitoring and Enforcement

The government is actively strengthening its monitoring mechanisms to ensure strict adherence to the standards prescribed by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). Reiterating the administration's unwavering commitment, Minister Yadav assured the Assembly that any practices endangering public health will not be tolerated.

Violators of food safety regulations will face strict penalties, including fines and potential license cancellations, as part of the government's comprehensive strategy to safeguard consumer health and ensure the integrity of the food supply chain throughout the state.
