Andhra Pradesh Tops India in ABHA Digital Health Records with 4.84 Crore Accounts
AP Leads Nation in Ayushman Bharat ABHA Health Records

In a significant milestone for India's digital healthcare mission, Andhra Pradesh has emerged as the national leader in the creation of Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) digital health records. The state's Secondary Health Director, KVN Chakradhar Babu, announced this achievement, highlighting a transformative step in public health management.

Record-Breaking Adoption of ABHA in Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh has created ABHA accounts for a staggering 4.84 crore people, which translates to an impressive 96% coverage of the state's total population. This accomplishment places the state at the pinnacle of India's digital health landscape. The details were shared with the media following a one-day seminar on Ayushman Bharat and Digital Health. This seminar was organized by the Institute of Health Management Research-Bangalore (IIHMR-B) in collaboration with the Andhra Pradesh Medical and Health Department on Friday.

Director Chakradhar Babu emphasized that this widespread adoption is not just about numbers. It represents a fundamental shift towards a more organized and accessible healthcare system for every resident of the state.

Comprehensive Registration of Doctors and Hospitals

The digital health infrastructure's strength lies in its extensive network of registered professionals and facilities. Alongside the massive citizen enrollment, the state has successfully registered 65,242 doctors and healthcare personnel under the 'Health Professional Registry'. This registry ensures that qualified professionals are integrated into the digital ecosystem.

Furthermore, 26,083 hospitals have been registered under the Health Facility Registry (HSR). Notably, this includes all government-owned and operated hospitals across Andhra Pradesh, ensuring that the public health system is fully onboarded into the digital framework.

Seamless Integration for Patient-Centric Care

The most impactful outcome of this initiative is the integration of health records. Chakradhar Babu revealed that a total of 7.50 crore electronic health records have been linked with ABHA accounts in the state.

This integration empowers patients in several key ways:

  • It allows individuals to digitally secure and store their medical histories.
  • Patients can easily access their records whenever needed.
  • It streamlines the treatment process when visiting any registered hospital in Andhra Pradesh.

The system eliminates the hassle of carrying physical documents and ensures that a patient's complete medical history is available to authorized healthcare providers at the click of a button. This leads to faster diagnosis, reduces repetitive tests, and facilitates continuous and informed care.

Andhra Pradesh's top ranking in ABHA adoption sets a formidable benchmark for other states. It demonstrates a successful model of large-scale digital transformation in healthcare, directly aligning with the national Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission's vision of creating a unified digital health infrastructure for India.
