A mega environmental drive that commenced on April 14 in Bokaro district reached its conclusion on Wednesday, World Earth Day, with a walkathon from Bokaro airport to Garga bridge. Following the walk, extensive cleaning activities were carried out along the banks of the Garga river.
Officials Lead by Example
Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha, Mayor Bholu Paswan, and other officials actively participated in the drive. They urged citizens to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives. Jha emphasized that cleanliness must become a continuous habit rather than a one-time effort. He called for large-scale plantation drives, reduction of plastic usage, and mandatory rainwater harvesting in the region.
Tribal Traditions and Environmental Harmony
Jha also highlighted the need to draw inspiration from tribal traditions that emphasize harmony with nature. Participants were administered a pledge to keep water bodies clean and avoid single-use plastic, reinforcing the message of environmental stewardship.
