Chamba District Reviews HPV Vaccine Rollout Strategy for Cervical Cancer Prevention
The preparations for the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign in Chamba district were thoroughly reviewed at a monthly meeting of Block Medical Officers. This gathering was organized by the Health and Family Welfare Department at Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru Government Medical College on Thursday.
Key Discussions and Directives from the Meeting
Chief Medical Officer Dr Jalam Bhardwaj chaired the meeting, where he examined the monthly reports submitted by the Block Medical Officers. He assessed the progress of various schemes and activities being implemented under the Aspirational District programme. Dr Bhardwaj directed the concerned officials to accelerate work on these initiatives and ensure their effective implementation at the field level.
Dr Bhardwaj emphasized the need for better coordination among departments to enhance the success of the vaccination drive. He instructed officials to organize special awareness activities in educational institutions. These efforts aim to provide parents and schoolgirls with accurate information about the importance, procedure, and safety of the HPV vaccine, helping to dispel any misconceptions about the immunization campaign.
Review of National Health Mission Programmes
In addition to the HPV vaccine plan, the CMO reviewed programmes being implemented in the district under the National Health Mission. This included the Reproductive and Maternal and Child Health Programme and the Immunisation Programme, ensuring a holistic approach to public health in Chamba.
