Lucknow: Emphasizing patient-centric care, Governor Anandiben Patel stated that medical professionals must prioritize service, empathy, and responsibility towards society. "Patients come not just for treatment but with hope and trust. Doctors must respond with compassion, reassurance and excellence," she said while addressing the third convocation of RMLIMS virtually on Monday.
Healthcare Access and Affordability
Highlighting the public impact of healthcare delivery, the governor stressed the need to make services accessible, affordable, and inclusive. She noted that initiatives like Ayushman Bharat and the expansion of medical infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh are helping improve access to timely treatment for common people.
Preventive Healthcare Focus
She also underlined the importance of preventive healthcare, especially in addressing malnutrition, child health, and communicable diseases. Efforts such as nutrition rehabilitation centres, vaccination drives, and rural health outreach were cited as key to improving long-term health outcomes.
RMLIMS Achievements and Patient-Friendly Measures
Praising RMLIMS, she pointed to patient-friendly measures such as bedside medicine distribution, 24-hour OPD services, and adoption of advanced technologies like robotic surgery and upcoming Gamma Knife treatment, which reduce delays and improve care quality. The governor directed authorities to address gaps in facilities, ensure cleanliness in hospitals and hostels, and provide nutritious food and better amenities for students. She said improving infrastructure and service standards would directly benefit patients and strengthen public trust in the healthcare system.
Convocation Ceremony
A total of 330 students received degrees, and 26 were awarded medals at the convocation.
