Hazaribag DC Sets 15-Day Deadline for Anganwadi Water & Toilet Projects
Hazaribag DC's 15-day deadline for anganwadi facilities

In a decisive move to improve child welfare infrastructure, Hazaribag Deputy Commissioner Shashi Prakash Singh has issued a strict 15-day deadline for completing crucial water and sanitation works in anganwadi centres across the district.

Directive for Swift Infrastructure Upgrade

Chairing a review meeting at the collectorate on Tuesday, the DC instructed all child development project officers (CDPOs), women supervisors, and officials from the public health engineering department (PHED) to work in close coordination. The primary goal is to ensure the availability of safe drinking water and fully functional sanitation facilities in every anganwadi centre.

Deputy Commissioner Shashi Prakash Singh made it unequivocally clear that the timeline must be strictly followed. He directed the officials to finalise rainwater harvesting systems and complete the construction of toilets, along with pending repairs of existing ones, within the fortnight.

Specific Targets and Accountability Measures

Officials were given precise targets during the meeting. The administration aims to install rainwater harvesting systems in 400 anganwadi centres. Simultaneously, toilet construction work must be finished in 180 centres within the same 15-day period.

Emphasising accountability, Singh ordered concerned officials to monitor the progress of these works regularly. He warned that strict action would be taken in case of any negligence or delay.

Additional Instructions for Comprehensive Coverage

The DC also addressed other critical issues. He firmly stated that partially constructed anganwadi buildings would not be taken over under any circumstances, ensuring only complete and safe structures are used.

Furthermore, he instructed officials to provide tap water connections in anganwadi centres operating from government buildings. This measure is intended to guarantee that both children and anganwadi workers have direct access to clean drinking water.

The review meeting saw the presence of key officials including the district social welfare officer, concerned Block Development Officers (BDOs), Circle Officers (COs), all CDPOs, women supervisors, PHED officials, and other employees.
