The Jaipur International Airport has enhanced its surveillance measures following a health department advisory regarding the potential risk of an Ebola virus outbreak. Passengers are now being screened at Terminal 1, which handles international flights. Authorities have urged travelers to voluntarily disclose relevant information through a self-declaration form upon their arrival.
Enhanced Screening Procedures
An airport official stated that the screening process is designed to determine whether a passenger has recently traveled to any country where the virus is actively spreading. Thermal screening of passengers is being conducted as part of these measures. The airport administration has also shared the health advisory issued by the Union health ministry on its social media handles to ensure wider awareness.
High-Risk Countries and Symptoms
Passengers who have traveled from countries reporting Ebola cases, such as the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan—classified as high-risk—and are experiencing symptoms including fever, weakness or fatigue, headache, muscle pain, vomiting, diarrhea, unexplained bleeding, and sore throat have been instructed to report to the airport health officer or the health desk before clearing immigration.
The advisory further states: "Any traveler developing these symptoms within 21 days of arrival should immediately seek medical care and inform healthcare authorities about their travel history."
Heatwave Mitigation Measures
In response to the severe heatwave conditions, the airport administration has set up a shaded walkway for passengers. This canopy has been installed from the car lanes to the entrance of the terminal building. Additionally, at both terminals, extra drinking water facilities have been placed outside for passengers, airport staff, and app-based taxi drivers.
