The Maharashtra chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has expressed its support for the ongoing investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the NEET question paper leak case. The state IMA has strongly urged that the doctors taken into custody by the CBI for questioning in connection with this malpractice case be subjected to a completely impartial and thorough investigation.
IMA's Strong Condemnation
“We strongly condemn, in the strongest possible terms, any such illegal and unethical acts. The State IMA will not, in any manner, shield or stand by any doctors suspected of involvement in this case or those who have been taken into custody,” said IMA Maharashtra president Dr Santosh Kulkarni.
Demand for Strict Action
In an official statement, IMA office-bearers emphasized that strict measures, in accordance with the law, must be taken against the culprits who are playing with the future of students and the credibility of the medical profession. They stated that the CBI must get to the root of the scam and conduct an impartial investigation, free from any external pressure, so that the truth may come to light. Maintaining the credibility of medical entrance examinations is absolutely essential for the country’s healthcare system.
“The IMA will never support any individual who perpetrates injustice against deserving and hardworking students,” IMA state secretary Dr Vikrant Desai said.
Support from Latur Chapter
Separately, IMA’s Latur chapter has also issued a statement demanding a fair probe in the NEET question paper leak in the interest of students. The chapter reiterated the importance of transparency and justice in such cases to uphold the integrity of medical education.
