Bhubaneswar: A robust rural support network for cancer patients is set to be established across Odisha, with cancer care partners planned in every panchayat. This announcement was made by members of the Fighters Group, a network of cancer survivors, during the National Cancer Survivors Day celebrations held in Bargarh on Sunday.
Programme Objectives
The initiative aims to eliminate fear, myths, and hopelessness surrounding cancer. It will promote awareness, encourage timely treatment, and foster community support for patients and survivors.
MP's Address
Addressing the gathering, Bargarh MP Pradip Purohit emphasized that the battle against cancer cannot be fought by doctors and hospitals alone. It requires collective support from society, voluntary organizations, and common people. "Cancer does not discriminate between ordinary citizens and public representatives," Purohit said. "Building a strong healthcare support system is essential for every community."
The Fighters Group plans to collaborate with local bodies to ensure that every panchayat has dedicated cancer care partners, thereby strengthening the rural healthcare infrastructure in the state.
