The deceased has been identified as Chandu, who passed away at his home after returning from Turkauliya bazar on Wednesday night. The three survivors—Loha Thakur, Laddu Sah, and Jitendra Prasad—are currently undergoing medical treatment. According to attending doctors, their conditions have stabilized, and they are now out of immediate danger.
In a harrowing account from his hospital bed, Loha Thakur recounted consuming spirit at Turkauliya bazar on Wednesday night. He reported a sudden loss of eyesight, followed by a rapid deterioration in his health, prompting his family to rush him to the hospital. Family members of the victims have corroborated that all affected individuals experienced vision loss after allegedly drinking the illicit substance.
Police Response and Ongoing Investigation
Superintendent of Police Swarn Prabhat has stated that the exact cause of death remains unclear and will only be confirmed after the postmortem report is available. However, he emphasized that the police are actively conducting raids to apprehend liquor smugglers in the region. In a significant development, six individuals identified as liquor mafias, who had recently been released from jail, were arrested by police on Thursday.
