Panchkula Creates Vehicle-Free Fitness Zone in Sector 5 Every Morning
Panchkula's Sector 5 Goes Car-Free for Morning Fitness

In a significant move aimed at boosting public health and wellness, the Panchkula traffic police have officially declared that Sector 5 will be transformed into a dedicated vehicle-free fitness zone every single morning. This initiative provides residents with a safe and peaceful environment for their daily exercise routines.

Road Closures and Timings

The new regulation will see a complete suspension of all vehicular movement across the entire Sector-5 loop. This daily suspension will be in effect from 6:00 AM to 7:30 AM, giving early risers a dedicated window for their fitness activities.

According to ACP (Traffic) Surender Singh, the restricted area encompasses several key stretches to ensure a large, contiguous space. These include the roads behind Shalimar Ground, the area near the popular Night Food Market, the section in front of the Parade Ground, and the stretch behind the Hafed building.

The ban also covers the zone along the protest site, the backside of Bella Vista, and the slip road located near the Food Market. Residents and daily commuters are being strongly urged by the traffic police to plan their travel accordingly and completely avoid this restricted area during the specified morning hours to ensure a smooth transition.

A Revived Initiative for Community Wellness

Police Commissioner Sibash Kabiraj explained the core motivation behind this proactive step. He stated that the primary goal is to offer the community a peaceful and pollution-free space where they can comfortably engage in various fitness activities such as walking, jogging, yoga, and more.

Commissioner Kabiraj also highlighted that the decision to bring back this initiative was not made in isolation. It comes as a direct response to positive feedback from the community and a growing, city-wide emphasis on the importance of public health and active lifestyles.

Planning Your Morning Commute

With the new timings in place, the Panchkula traffic police have issued a clear advisory. All motorists, including those who use these routes for their daily commute, are requested to take note of the 6:00 AM to 7:30 AM closure and seek alternative routes during this period.

This initiative promises to make the heart of Sector 5 a haven for fitness enthusiasts, promoting a healthier and more active start to the day for Panchkula's residents.
