PMC Cancer Screening Camp for Sanitation Workers in Patna

Patna Municipal Corporation Launches Health Initiative for Sanitation Workers

In a significant public health initiative, the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) organized a comprehensive cancer screening camp at Gulzarbagh Stadium under Azimabad Circle on Thursday. The event provided free screenings and expert medical consultations to more than 200 sanitation workers and their immediate family members, marking a crucial step toward improving healthcare access for municipal employees.

Dignitaries Inaugurate Health Camp

The camp was formally inaugurated by Mayor Sita Sahu alongside Municipal Commissioner Yashpal Meena, with the Patna civil surgeon also present at the ceremony. This collaborative effort underscores the administration's commitment to delivering primary health check-ups and facilitating early disease detection through organized medical camps.

Mayor Sita Sahu emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, "The sanitation workers of PMC are the backbone of the city's cleanliness system. Keeping them healthy is our primary responsibility. Lives can be saved through the timely detection and examination of serious diseases like cancer." Her remarks highlighted the corporation's focus on preventive healthcare for essential service providers.

Comprehensive Medical Screenings Conducted

During the camp, specialized medical teams conducted thorough screenings for multiple types of cancer, including:

  • Oral cancer examinations
  • Cervical cancer screenings
  • Breast cancer assessments

The Patna Municipal Corporation has established a systematic approach for medical guidance and referrals, ensuring that participants receive appropriate follow-up treatment based on their test results. This structured referral system aims to bridge the gap between initial screening and comprehensive medical care.

Expanded Health Camp Schedule Announced

Municipal Commissioner Yashpal Meena detailed the corporation's broader health protection strategy, announcing, "PMC is committed to the health protection of its sanitation workers. Between January 27 and February 19, health camps are being organized in a phased manner across all wards so that the maximum number of workers and their families can benefit."

The initiative includes an ambitious plan to conduct approximately 60 health camps during this period, ensuring widespread coverage throughout Patna's municipal areas. This phased implementation demonstrates a systematic approach to healthcare delivery for municipal staff.

This health camp represents a proactive measure by the Patna Municipal Corporation to address healthcare disparities among sanitation workers, who play a vital role in maintaining urban cleanliness. By focusing on early detection and preventive care, the corporation aims to reduce the burden of serious illnesses while promoting overall community health awareness.
