Telangana Unveils 100-Day Health Mission for Comprehensive Public Health Improvement

The Health Department of Telangana has officially announced the launch of a special 100-day campaign, named Health Mission-100, scheduled to run from March 2 to June 9. This extensive initiative is structured into four distinct phases, each designed to address critical health needs across the state, with a primary focus on women, children, the elderly, and other vulnerable populations. A key objective of the campaign is to enhance the quality and accessibility of services in public health facilities, ensuring broader coverage and more effective healthcare delivery.

Comprehensive Health Profiling for Rural Women

As a cornerstone of the mission, comprehensive health profiling will be conducted for women associated with self-help groups (SHGs) across all districts. This profiling involves a detailed 30-parameter diagnostic test aimed at assessing various health indicators. The program targets to cover over 42 lakh SHG members within a six-month timeframe, with the goal of creating robust digital health profiles for rural women in Telangana. This digital initiative is expected to facilitate better health monitoring and personalized care strategies.

Phase-Wise Implementation of Health Initiatives

Phase 1 (March 2–31): This initial phase will concentrate on maternal, child, adolescent, and geriatric health services through special drives. Key activities include anaemia screening, immunisation campaigns, cancer screening under the Aarogya Mahila program, and geriatric health camps at 33 government general hospitals. Additionally, a statewide women's health drive is planned for March 8, coinciding with International Women's Day, followed by intensified immunisation sessions on March 16 for National Vaccination Day.

Phase 2 (April 1–15): The second phase will address the growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and cancer care. Plans involve launching a comprehensive cancer care policy, establishing a cancer registry, organising screening camps, and mapping chemotherapy services at district day-care cancer centres to improve treatment accessibility.

Phase 3 (April 16–May 15): This phase prioritises communicable disease control and seasonal preparedness. Initiatives include the TB-Mukt Telangana drive to combat tuberculosis, HIV screening in prisons, and the activation of heat-stroke management rooms at selected hospitals in locations such as King Koti, Vanasthalipuram, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, and Asifabad.

Phase 4 (May 16–June 9): The final phase introduces customised healthcare solutions, including upgrading 145 Urban Primary Health Centres (PHCs) into polyclinics, implementing focused tribal health interventions, launching a haemophilia policy, and conducting food safety mela campaigns to promote public awareness.

Conclusion and Reporting

The Health Mission-100 campaign will conclude with the release of district report cards on Telangana Formation Day, June 2, providing an assessment of progress and outcomes. Furthermore, food safety awareness drives are scheduled for World Food Safety Day on June 7, as confirmed by health officials. This structured approach aims to create a lasting impact on public health infrastructure and services in the state.
