UP Police Families Get Major Health Boost: Tata 1mg, Apollo & AYUSH Join Forces
UP Police Families Get Tata 1mg, Apollo & AYUSH Health Benefits

In a significant move to bolster healthcare access for the families of police personnel across Uttar Pradesh, the UP Police Family Welfare Association, WAMA Saarthi, signed two pivotal Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) on Thursday. The agreements with healthcare giants Tata 1mg and Apollo Hospitals, along with a coordinated program with the AYUSH department, were inked at the UP Police Headquarters in Lucknow, marking a major expansion of medical services.

Key Partnerships for Comprehensive Care

The event was graced by the presence of WAMA Saarthi president Meenakshi Singh (IRS) and Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Krishna. The dual MoUs are designed to address different aspects of healthcare needs for police families who often face stress and uncertainty due to the demanding nature of police work.

Under the agreement with Tata 1mg, a series of diagnostic camps will be organized. These camps are scheduled to commence from December 7 and will be held across nine district police lines. The initiative promises high-quality diagnostic tests at subsidized rates that are compliant with the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) norms, making essential check-ups more affordable.

Simultaneously, Apollo Hospitals has committed to issuing 5,000 special health cards targeted at women in police families aged above 40 years. These cards will enable the beneficiaries to undergo critical screenings, including Pap smear tests and mammography, along with other essential gynaecological check-ups. The validity of this beneficial scheme extends until March 31, 2026.

Expanding Holistic and Accessible Wellness

Beyond allopathic care, WAMA Saarthi is also focusing on holistic wellness through traditional medicine. In coordination with the AYUSH department, the association is launching a statewide program to set up monthly homeopathy wellness camps in every district. These camps will offer free consultations and free medicines, providing an additional layer of preventive and curative care accessible to all police families.

Meenakshi Singh hailed the initiatives as a "significant new chapter in healthcare security" for the police community. She emphasized that police personnel work relentlessly under highly stressful conditions, making the well-being of their families a shared responsibility. "The MoUs are a collective commitment toward health, safety and long-term welfare," she stated.

Future Plans and Ongoing Welfare Efforts

Singh also revealed that efforts are actively underway to establish permanent diagnostic collection centres and quality pharmacies inside police lines, which would provide sustained, convenient access. She highlighted other welfare activities by WAMA Saarthi, including the felicitation of meritorious children of police personnel, the participation of over 1,700 women in the 'WAMA Samvaad' initiative, and upcoming skill development programs under the UP Skill Development Mission.

DGP Rajeev Krishna reinforced that police welfare remains a top priority for the force. He commended WAMA Saarthi for its impactful work, noting that its health camps have already benefited approximately 10,000 police families across 30-31 districts of the state. This new three-pronged partnership with Tata 1mg, Apollo, and AYUSH is set to deepen and widen that impact, ensuring a healthier and more secure future for those who serve and protect.
