The CSIR-NBRI-EIACP Programme Centre, in collaboration with the Department of Environmental Science at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), organized a World Environment Day 2026 programme on the theme 'Inspired by nature. For climate. For our future.'

Key Highlights of the Event

Prof. Venkatesh Dutta, Head of the Department of Environmental Science at BBAU, and Vice-Chancellor Prof. R.K. Mittal addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of sustainable lifestyles and environmental responsibility. Renowned conservationist Asad R. Rahmani delivered the keynote lecture on bird conservation and biodiversity protection.

Mission LiFE and Book Release

The NBRI-EIACP team highlighted the significance of adopting a sustainable lifestyle for the environment under the Mission LiFE initiative. A book titled 'Small River Restoration Guidebook, Standard Operating Procedure', authored by Prof. Venkatesh Dutta, was released during the event.

Plantation Drive

Under the '#Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, a plantation drive was conducted on the BBAU campus. Dignitaries, faculty members, students, and staff planted around 300 saplings of Mango, Banyan, Peepal, Sita Ashok, Sharifa, and Bougainvillea to promote biodiversity and environmental sustainability.

Conclusion and Pledge

The programme concluded with the Mission LiFE Pledge, where participants reaffirmed their commitment to protecting the environment and adopting sustainable lifestyles.
