Berhampur Police Conducts Special Health Screening Camp for Women Officers on Women's Day
In a significant initiative to promote wellness among its personnel, the Berhampur police organized a comprehensive cardiometabolic health screening camp exclusively for women police officers and family members of male officers on Sunday, coinciding with International Women's Day celebrations. The event saw active participation from approximately 55 women police personnel across various ranks, along with spouses of male officers, highlighting the department's commitment to employee welfare.
Camp Inaugurated by Senior Police Official
The health camp was formally inaugurated by Saravana Vivek M, the Superintendent of Police (Berhampur), who emphasized the importance of preventive healthcare for police personnel. Organized in collaboration with the Indian Medical Association, the camp provided a platform for thorough medical assessments tailored to the needs of women in law enforcement and their families.
Comprehensive Medical Screening Procedures
Participants underwent an extensive range of medical tests designed to evaluate cardiometabolic health, including:
- Clinical assessments by qualified medical professionals
- Measurement of vital signs such as blood pressure and heart rate
- Blood examinations for various health parameters
- Electrocardiogram (ECG) tests to monitor heart activity
- Treadmill stress tests to assess cardiovascular fitness
- Pulmonary function tests to evaluate respiratory health
This holistic approach ensured that participants received a complete health profile, enabling early detection of potential health issues.
Focus on Women's Health and Well-being
The timing of the camp on Women's Day underscored the police department's dedication to addressing the specific health concerns of women officers, who often face unique challenges in balancing demanding professional responsibilities with personal health management. By extending the invitation to family members of male officers, the initiative also recognized the crucial support system within police families.
Such health camps represent a proactive step toward fostering a healthier workforce, potentially reducing absenteeism and enhancing overall job performance among police personnel. The collaboration with the Indian Medical Association ensured that the screenings were conducted with medical expertise and adhered to established health protocols.
