Prayagraj: To mark the upcoming International Yoga Day, the inauguration of ‘Yoga Week’, organized jointly by the district administration and the AYUSH department, was held at CSA Park on Monday. On this occasion, hundreds of citizens, officials, and yoga practitioners from the city participated in a yoga session.
Mayor’s Address on Yoga’s Global Reach
Addressing the gathering, Mayor Ganesh Kesarwani said that this year’s theme, ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’, inspires us to lead a disease-free, energetic, and healthy life by embracing yoga at every stage of life. Praising the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he remarked that it is due to the Prime Minister’s far-sighted efforts that yoga has established itself on the global stage today. Every corner of the world is now embracing this wonderful lifestyle rooted in Indian culture. Yoga is not merely physical exercise; it is a science that unites the body, mind, and soul.
MLA’s Call for Daily Yoga Practice
Phaphamau MLA Guru Prasad Maurya also emphasized that, “In today’s fast-paced life, yoga is absolutely essential for mental peace and physical well-being.” He urged the youth and citizens not to limit yoga to a one-day or one-week celebration but to make it an integral part of their daily routine.
Yoga Week Activities and Protocol
Regional Ayurvedic and Unani Officer Dr. Naveen Soni informed that during Yoga Week (June 15 to June 21), awareness campaigns, workshops, and yoga camps would be organized across various parts of the district. Yogacharya Kaushal Kishore, Dr. Deepti Yogeshwar, and Arunesh Mitra guided the participants through a collective practice of various ‘asanas’, ‘pranayama’, and meditation in accordance with the ‘Common Yoga Protocol.’ During the event, the attendees took a pledge to practice yoga daily to maintain good health.
Wide Participation from Officials and Citizens
The event also witnessed the participation of a large number of prominent citizens and yoga enthusiasts, alongside medical officers, pharmacists, and staff from the AYUSH Department, the Horticulture Officer of Company Bagh, and officials and employees from other administrative departments.
