Ahmedabad's Jain Community to Host Grand Mahavir Jayanti Celebrations
The Bharatvarshiya Teerthakshetra Committee has announced a spectacular celebration for Mahavir Jayanti, scheduled for March 30 and 31 in Ahmedabad. This event promises to bring together the city's Jain community in a vibrant display of faith and culture.
Festivities Include Concert and Cultural Events
On the eve of Mahavir Jayanti, March 30, a Jain concert will be performed by renowned musician Vaibhav Bagmar. Additionally, a kavi sammelan will be hosted by Shailesh Lodha, adding a poetic touch to the celebrations. Organizers have also prepared a replica of the royal court of Maharaja Siddhartha and Mata Trishala, offering attendees a glimpse into historical Jain heritage.
Procession Planned for March 31
To mark the occasion, a procession led by various organizations in Ahmedabad is set for March 31. This procession aims to foster community spirit and honor the teachings of Lord Mahavir, emphasizing peace and non-violence.
Astrophysicist Ekta Shah Shares Insights at AMA Lecture
In a separate event, astrophysicist Dr Ekta Shah delivered the 16th Dr Lalita Iyer Memorial Lecture at the Ahmedabad Management Association on Saturday. She highlighted innovative approaches to making science accessible, such as naming six early galaxy protostructures after the six senses in Indian languages.
Dr Shah advocated for hands-on, project-based learning in scientific education and shared her vision for creating an interdisciplinary research space to advance knowledge and inspire future scientists.
