Chikkamagaluru Transforms Republic Day into a Grand Floral and Cultural Celebration
The Republic Day festivities in Chikkamagaluru, often hailed as the Land of Coffee, are set to offer a unique and vibrant experience this year. The national festival will be marked by Chaitrotsava, an elaborate three-day flower show hosted at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose District Stadium. This event aims to blend patriotism with local culture and horticultural excellence, creating a memorable occasion for residents and tourists alike.
A Warm Welcome with Unique Creations
Visitors will be greeted at the entrance by two remarkable installations: an attractive arch crafted entirely from coffee by the Coffee Board of India, and an elephant model made out of lantana by local tribals. These artistic pieces symbolize the region's rich heritage and natural resources, setting the tone for the festivities.
Thematic Displays and Floral Artistry
The flower show will feature a range of thematic displays that bring various icons to life through floral arrangements. Highlights include:
- Models of Sringeri Sharadambe, the revered deity.
- A tribute to environmentalist Saalumarada Thimmakka.

- A colorful model of the ICC Women's World Cup cricket team, designed with vibrant flowers.
Additionally, over 8,000 flower pots showcasing a variety of blooms in different colors will be used to enhance the grandeur of the event, a significant increase from last year's scale.

The event will not only be a visual treat but also a hub for cultural and economic activities. Key attractions include:

Cultural Performances and Competitions
To add more color and excitement, the event will feature:

Organizational Efforts and Expected Turnout
The event is being organized by a collaborative effort involving the district administration, zilla panchayat, horticulture department, Chikkamagaluru Udyana Kala Sangha, and other departments. According to Deputy Commissioner NM Nagaraj, this initiative aims to make Republic Day more attractive and meaningful for the community.
Building on the success of last year's event, which attracted nearly 3.5 lakh visitors, this year's celebration is planned on a larger scale to accommodate an even greater response. The inauguration will be led by District Minister KJ George on Monday morning, marking the official start of the festivities.
This Republic Day in Chikkamagaluru promises to be a holistic celebration, combining floral beauty, cultural richness, and community engagement, making it a standout event in Karnataka's festive calendar.
