CM Mohan Yadav Launches Adi Shankaracharya Jayanti Celebrations at Omkareshwar
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inaugurated the five-day Prakatotsav of Adi Shankaracharya Jayanti at Ekatma Dham in Omkareshwar on Friday, describing the sacred site as the "centre of sunrise of Advaita knowledge" and affirming that its spiritual energy continues to resonate globally.
Madhya Pradesh's Rich Spiritual Heritage Highlighted
Addressing the inaugural session, Yadav traced Madhya Pradesh's deep spiritual legacy, recalling Lord Ram's exile at Chitrakoot on the banks of the Mandakini river, and Lord Krishna's education at Sandipani Ashram in Ujjain. He emphasized that both these historical events have imparted timeless values to humanity, showcasing the state's pivotal role in India's spiritual narrative.
The Journey of Adi Shankaracharya from Kerala to Omkareshwar
Yadav highlighted the transformative journey of an eight-year-old Shankar from Kerala's Kaladi, who arrived at Omkareshwar, received the blessings of Guru Govindapadacharya, and evolved into Adi Shankaracharya. The Chief Minister noted that this philosopher laid the foundation for India's spiritual and cultural unity, making Omkareshwar a cornerstone of Advaita Vedanta.
Emphasis on Self-Realization and Spiritual Oneness
Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Sadanand Saraswati of Dwaraka Sharada Peeth, in his address, stressed that self-realization is the true path to oneness. He observed that while people often seek to understand the external world, they frequently neglect the crucial task of understanding the self, a core tenet of Advaita philosophy.

The event, organized by the Department of Culture and the Acharya Shankar Cultural Unity Trust, will run until April 21. Notable attendees included Padmashri Nivedita Bhide and several senior saints, underscoring the significance of this spiritual gathering.
