The police dog squad demonstration emerged as an undeniable crowd favourite, where highly trained dogs showcased exceptional discipline, remarkable intelligence, and impressive agility, drawing thunderous applause and admiration from captivated spectators of all ages.

Competitive Spirit and Canine Excellence

The undeniable highlight of the event was the main dog show competition, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from an impressive 150 dogs representing a diverse array of 29 distinct breeds. The competition was meticulously structured into four clear categories:

  • Small Breeds
  • Medium Breeds
  • Large Breeds
  • Indian Breeds

Expert judges carefully evaluated each canine contestant based on critical criteria including physical fitness, meticulous grooming, demonstrated obedience, and overall charismatic personality. Amid a flurry of cheers and camera flashes, a magnificent German shepherd owned by Sunil Poojari was crowned the grand champion of the show. Other top honours were awarded to dogs owned by Neelkanth Hadimani and Shailesh Hosamani, with several other pets receiving special recognition and awards, making the day truly memorable for all participants and owners.

The Heart of the Event: Successful Adoptions

However, beyond the glittering trophies and competitive titles, the most heartwarming and impactful moments unfolded quietly at the adoption counter. Demonstrating immense compassion, approximately 50 animal lovers formally registered to adopt stray dogs. By the conclusion of the event, a remarkable 32 stray dogs had successfully found loving new forever homes. Many adopters described the experience as profoundly emotional and deeply fulfilling, with several individuals expressing that they had long desired to provide a street dog with a cherished second chance at a secure and happy life.

Ensuring Health and Responsible Ownership

Dedicated veterinary teams were present on-site to ensure all adopted dogs received essential vaccinations against rabies and other infectious diseases prior to going home with their new families. New pet parents were also generously provided with comprehensive starter kits containing essential supplies for their furry companions. Officials made a significant announcement that free sterilisation procedures would be provided for these adopted dogs within one year, a crucial step in promoting and ensuring responsible, long-term pet ownership and population control.

Education and Long-Term Goals

Informative awareness sessions on vital topics such as rabies prevention and general animal care added a valuable educational dimension to the celebratory atmosphere. Organisers emphasised that the core initiative aims to humanely reduce the local stray dog population while actively fostering a compassionate culture of adoption over purchasing pets. This holistic approach combines celebration, competition, compassion, and education to create a sustainable model for community animal welfare.
