Historic Dhubri Idgah Maidan Hosts Over 10,000 Devotees for Eid-ul-Fitr Prayers
In a significant religious gathering, more than ten thousand devotees of the Islamic faith offered namaz at the historic Idgah Maidan in Dhubri on Saturday morning. This pre-Independence era ground has long served as a major attraction for worshippers to congregate and perform prayers during the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Overcoming Weather Concerns for a Sacred Congregation
Khorsed Khan, a resident in his 60s from Ward No-6, highlighted the community's preference for the Idgah Maidan despite its limited space, noting its capacity to accommodate nearly ten thousand devotees. "We had doubts about offering prayers here due to the inclement weather and overcast skies in this part of Assam, but thankfully we were able to pray without any hindrance," Khan remarked, expressing relief at the successful event.
Spiritual Leadership and Community Unity
The congregation featured a bayan, or religious message, delivered by Moulana Bahajuddin, while the namaz was led by Abdur Rashid, the Imam of Bahadurtary Jama Masjid. This spiritual guidance underscored the deep-rooted traditions and communal harmony observed during the festivities.
