Dhanbad: A special police operation targeting unnecessary public gatherings and anti-social activities resulted in the detention of more than a dozen individuals across the district on Saturday night. Several people were also found consuming liquor in public places, leading to legal action by law enforcement.
District-Wide Campaign
The district-wide campaign was carried out on the instructions of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prabhat Kumar. Police teams conducted simultaneous intensive checking and patrolling in various police station areas to curb unlawful activities and maintain public order.
Inspections and Detentions
During the operation, police inspected major intersections, market areas, public places, and other sensitive locations. Several individuals were found sitting in groups at public spots without any valid reason, causing inconvenience to local residents and passers-by. All detained persons were taken to the respective police stations for verification and questioning.
Alcohol Consumption
In the course of the drive, police also caught a number of people openly consuming alcohol in public places. The accused were brought to police stations for necessary medical examinations and legal proceedings under relevant laws. Officials stated that strict action would continue against those disturbing peace and violating public order.
SSP's Statement
SSP Prabhat Kumar said that the special campaign was aimed at maintaining law and order, ensuring effective control over crime, and creating a safe environment for common citizens. He added that police would continue to conduct such drives regularly against public nuisance, intoxication, and other anti-social activities.

The SSP further appealed to residents to cooperate with the administration by following the law and immediately informing the police about any suspicious activity through Dial 112.
