Eid-ul-Fitr Celebrated with Devotion Across Coastal Karnataka Districts
Following a month-long period of fasting and spiritual reflection during Ramzan, Muslim communities throughout the coastal districts of Karnataka joyously observed Eid-ul-Fitr on Friday. This significant festival marks the commencement of the Shawwal month, celebrated with profound devotion and communal happiness across the region.
Special Congregational Prayers Held at Key Mosques
Special Eid namaz was conducted at numerous mosques spanning Dakshina Kannada and Udupi. A particularly large gathering assembled at the historic Idgah Masjid located on Lighthouse Hill in Mangaluru. The congregation was notably joined by Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker, UT Khader, who participated in the prayers and delivered an important Eid message to the devotees.
Speaker UT Khader's Message of Unity and Global Peace
In his address, Speaker Khader underscored the core values embodied by religious festivals. He emphasized that such occasions promote love, brotherhood, coexistence, mutual trust, and unity among all people. Khader articulated that these ideals are fundamental pillars for constructing a progressive Karnataka and a resilient, strong India.
Directly referencing the ongoing and distressing crisis in West Asia, Khader shared that his prayers included a fervent wish for worldwide peace and harmony. "War anywhere in the world causes anguish to all. I have prayed for peace and tranquillity to prevail everywhere," he stated, highlighting the universal impact of conflict and the collective desire for serenity.
Emphasis on Compassion and Social Responsibility
Eid celebrations were also conducted with great enthusiasm at the Bajal Nanthoor Badriya Juma Masjid. Delivering the Eid message, Khateeb Al Haj Abdul Nasir Saadi focused on the essential principles of compassion and social duty. He urged the community to actively support the impoverished, orphans, and those in need, reminding everyone that Eid is not merely a festival of joy but also a profound symbol of sacrifice and empathy.
Saadi called upon people to live harmoniously, putting aside differences, and issued a caution against misusing the blessings of health, wealth, and precious time on detrimental habits. The celebrations at this mosque included a meaningful sermon and congregational prayers. Additionally, a newly constructed mosque gate was formally inaugurated under the leadership of the mosque president, Abdul Ravoof.
Widespread Celebrations Across Udupi District
In Udupi district, special Eid prayers were offered at mosques in various towns and localities including Udupi city, Kaup, Brahmavar, Kundapur, Byndoor, Hebri, and Karkala. Devotees adorned new clothes and gathered in substantial numbers for the prayers. Notably, separate and dedicated arrangements were made for women at select mosques, ensuring inclusive participation in the religious observances.
The festive atmosphere across the coastal districts reflected a deep sense of community, shared faith, and a collective aspiration for a peaceful and prosperous society, reinforcing the messages of unity and compassion delivered by community leaders.
