The Karnataka state government has officially announced the rescheduled dates for the much-awaited Hampi Utsav. The vibrant cultural festival will now be celebrated on February 13, 14, and 15, 2024, in Hosapete, Vijayanagara district.
Minister Directs Grand Preparations for Third Edition
To guarantee the festival's success, District Minister BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan has issued clear directives to the district administration. He has instructed Deputy Commissioner Kavita S Mannikeri to oversee all arrangements meticulously. Following the minister's orders, the DC has already conducted a series of coordination meetings with officials from all key departments, including the police, urging them to begin preparations in full earnest.
Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan, who has previously overseen two editions of the festival, is keen on making the third edition a spectacular event. He has emphasized the need to organize the utsav on a grand scale, reflecting the rich heritage of the Hampi region.
Open Call for Artistes and New Logo Competition
In an exciting opportunity for performers, the district administration has opened applications for artistes and troupes to participate in the cultural shows and processions. The call is open to talent from local areas, other districts, and even other states. The deadline for applications is January 20, 2024.
Artistes affiliated with government, semi-government, and aided institutions must submit a permission letter from their competent authority along with their application. This ensures a wide and diverse participation from across the country.
Adding a creative twist, the administration has also launched a competition to design a new logo for Hampi Utsav-2026. The winner of this design contest will be awarded a prize by the district authorities, encouraging public involvement in the festival's branding.
A Shift from Original Festival Calendar
The festival has seen several date changes over the years. Originally, it was scheduled for February 27, 28, and March 1. However, it has now been preponed to mid-February.
The festival was founded by the late minister MP Prakash, who had initially fixed the annual dates for November 3, 4, and 5. These dates were altered with subsequent changes in the state government, leading to the current schedule. The active involvement of the current district minister signals a strong commitment to reviving and elevating this cultural extravaganza.
With focused planning and an open invitation to cultural performers, Hampi Utsav 2024 is poised to be a magnificent celebration of art, history, and Karnataka's vibrant traditions.
